SUMMARY:'Recycled Illuminations' on Display September 10-24  
DESCRIPTION:Artist Patrick Cogan of Antrim looks for vintage\, primitive\, and retro items and “upcycles” them into lamps and home decor. He owns “Recycled Illuminations\,” where he designs\, crafts\, and sells unique light fixtures made from objects found at transfer stations\, second-hand shops\, and yard sales. \nAn exhibit of his work is on display in the East Room Gallery of the United Church of Christ in Keene from September 10 to 24. That includes during the City of Keene’s observation of Pride Week. The gallery is accessible to all via the rear entrance off Vernon Street\, Keene. Call ahead\, 603-352-4136\, if you wish to visit during the week\, 9 am to 1 pm. The church is closed on Saturdays; open on Sundays. \nPatrick Cogan is a music teacher by day and an artist in the evenings and on weekends. He began his art in Peterborough\, when an item caught his eye at a transfer station dumpster. Within hours\, the found object was turned into a light\, shared on social media\, and the rest is history. \nDuring the past year\, Patrick has expanded his creations by adding pine furniture\, personalized attire\, soy candles and many other items. “Recycled Illuminations” can be found at his online store www.creativeproductshandmade.com

Along with our children and youth\, we will also be dedicating our fabulous new “Heart” Mural located in the entryway of the Church. SUMMARY:Shipping Container is Packed for Partner Church in Zimbabwe
DESCRIPTION:August is the time when donated goods and supplies are packed in a shipping container by people here in Keene\, NH\, and then sent to Zimbabwe\, to be unpacked by the people of the UCC-Keene’s partner church in Mt. Selinda. \nEach year\, donations are collected at the home of a UCC-Keene member and are packed by volunteers on several evenings in August. \nRequested donations this year included school supplies\, sports equipment\, photocopy machines\, sewing machines\, chainsaws\, musical instruments\, bedding\, clothing\, crutches and canes\, laptops\, nursing books\, Bibles\, and tools.

SUMMARY:Digital Art by Raleigh Ormerod on Display Through June 25
DESCRIPTION:“Prime of Night\,” a digital art installation by Raleigh Ormerod of Keene\, is on display in the East Room Gallery of the United Church of Christ in Keene\, now through June 25. Ormerod creates digital art that is printed on metal for a glossy result. He begins with triangles of color and ends with vibrant depictions of night-active animals—bear\, coyotes\, a jaguar. Each work is unique and copyrighted with the Library of Congress. \nThe public is invited to an Artist Reception from 5:30 to 7 pm\, Thursday\, May 25. The East Room Gallery is located on the ground floor and is handicapped accessible. Enter the Church through the back door from Vernon Street. \nOrmerod serves on the Keene City Council and School Board. He came to this artistic inspiration during a long medical journey\, but never had artistic interests or abilities before his illness.
