The choir\, directed by Beverly Caldon\, will present it as a Sermon-in-Music\, accompanied by Julie Armstrong\, flute; Sussan Henkel\, oboe; and Joy Flemming\, bassoon. The service begins at 10 am. All are welcome. \nGaudete Rejoice was originally created for the Youth Choir of the Swedissh Radio in 1962 for the purpose of introducing Swedish Christmas music for mixed choir and instruments. Ohrwall chose songs related to certain biblical readings\, and combined them in a Christmas story\, including English Christmas carols\, French noels\, etc.

DESCRIPTION:“Children of War\,” a solo exhibit by sculptor Carina Roestorf\, is on display in the East Room Gallery at the United Church of Christ from September 23 to October 31. \nOpen Hours \n\nSundays from 11:00 am to noon\nMonday through Thursday\, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm\nFridays 9:00 am to 5:00 pm\nThe artist will be in the gallery 1:00 – 5:00 on Fridays.\nPlease visit the East Room Gallery from the Vernon Street entrance.\n\nThis exhibition includes her latest body of work. “This opportunity to showcase my collection of “CHILDREN OF WAR” is very exciting and meaningful to me. I want the children to speak for themselves. I want to make my audience aware that we all need to slow down and take a moment to reflect on what is really happening today. I want them to see how war inhumanely impacts innocent children in this present time. Why are we just the bystanders here?” asks Carina. “I work with stoneware and love the sculpting process. My other works on display reflect clearly my emotions around the issues of life\, social and/or political issues. My art is my voice.” \nBorn South African\, Carina now lives in a New Hampshire lakefront studio where she feels most inspired. “When I started working with clay\, I was not sure where it all was leading. But clay has its own way. The more we worked side by side\, the more we formed a strong bond in our appreciation for form and beauty. Together we developed a mutual respect for the creative process of sculpting. This is when\, and only then\, I am able to stand back with a sigh of joy and pray…”

DESCRIPTION:The United Church of Christ in Keene on Central Square was lit with rainbow colors to celebrate Keene Pride Week\, September 11-18. The September 18 worship service featured a special message from Rev. Cindy Bagley and readings from the church’s Open and Affirming Committee members\, along with selected music to affirm the day\, as a flash mob made a brief appearance. The week included an art exhibit by Tim Gasper in the church’s East Room Gallery.
