News from our Conference about Ukama Partnerships

Greetings Ukama Partnership Church Pastors, Coordinators, and Supportive Friends,

Much love and greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ, our teacher, savior, and friend!  I hope that this finds you well.

I am writing today to send greeting and information for you about plans that the Ukama Mission Group is working on for 2016.

Many of you may be aware that Zimbabwe is currently enduring difficult days on a number of fronts.  In particular, rains required for planting crops came very late to many areas of the country, and when they have come, they have not been sufficient for sustaining crops.  The Ukama Mission Group has been communicating with the Ukama Committee in Zimbabwe about these concerns and would like to invite New Hampshire Conference Churches to respond with funds for a shared food and water security project this year.  We are hopeful to sponsor a borehole at Dimiri Primary School, a new school near Mt. Selinda and to provide funds that will be used to purchase and distribute maize to the most severely impacted areas.  We have been given an initial quote of $7,300 for the bore hole (we currently have $1,000 in hand of seed money for this project), and currently maize can be purchased for $10 for a 5 gallon bucket.  More information about this can be found in the attached 2016 Water Food Security Brochure.  If you have any problems opening that, please let me know, and I can send you a word file.

Also, the Ukama Mission Group is excited to host 3 Educational Evenings for Ukama Partnership Churches over the course of this year.  The first gathering will take place on Wednesday, April 20th at 5:30 pm at the Chester Church.  More information will be coming your way about this in the next months; however, as of right now, we plan to have a potluck at 5:30, with conversation about the Water Food Security Shared Project, and the Ukama Covenant to follow.  We do hope that churches will enjoy learning together and strengthening our relationships between Ukama Partnership churches.  If your church would like to be a host site for the one of these gatherings, we are hopeful to have one in the North Country and one in the western part of the state.

We are also happy to share that the Keene United Church of Christ plans to sponsor a container shipment in 2016 (tentative date is in August).  More information will be coming regarding this in the months ahead.

Lastly, you will also find attached a 2016 Ukama Newsletter recounting activities of last year and looking forward.  You are welcome and encouraged to post and share this information in your churches.

Sending warm regards and much love your way.  Thank you for your prayers for your sister church and for your caring and concern for our hama/family in Zimbabwe.  We can surely celebrate how the Holy Spirit has been guiding and blessing us in this nearly 20 year partnership!
