Senior Minister

Rev. Cynthia (Cindy) Bagley

After earning an MBA and pursuing a career as a strategic consultant in the corporate and venture capital sectors, Pastor Cindy returned to seminary, graduating with honors as a Merit Scholar from The Boston University School of Theology. For almost twenty years, she has merged her entrepreneurial skills with her passion for ministry, playing a leadership role in the church vitality movement. As Senior Minister of The United Church of Christ in Keene, she loves the space where church meets spirit, creating a dynamic environment in which new ideas are always blooming and everyone is empowered to play a part! She is also proud to carry on the Church’s long legacy of service to the Keene community. When she is not working long hours, you can find her on a lake in her kayak, traveling the world, or spending time with her six young grandchildren.

Church Administrator

Julie White

As Church Administrator, Julie brings extraordinary gifts to this often chaotic and demanding role. Through a series of corporate and non-profit positions, Julie’s background includes marketing, sales, finance, communications, and management. Her most important ability is making everyone feel welcome! Whatever you need, Julie is there in the Church Office with a smile, even on the most stressful days. After a time away, Julie is delighted to be back in New Hampshire with her son, Gabe, She also enjoys hosting periodic visits from Lindsey and Lezlie, her children who grew up in the Monadnock Region but who now live in different parts of the country.

Music Director

Beverly Caldon

Beverly Caldon is delighted to be back at The United Church of Christ in Keene after a 10-year hiatus, where she serves as Music Director, Organist, and Choir Director. Beverly earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education (organ) from The University of New Hampshire in Durham. She has taught organ as a faculty member at Keene State College as well as with the Young Organists’ Collaborative on the seacoast. She also taught public school music for ten years. Beverly is a coveted accompanist, performing in concerts and recitals for a variety of artists and events, including Messiah Sings, and faculty recitals at Keene State. Beverly has accompanied concert tours to Germany and Italy with the Monadnock Chorus, and a tour of Russia with the NH Friendship Chorus. She has been an active member of the American Guild of Organists and the American Choral Director’s Association. Bev lives in New London with her husband Jack and two lively Australian cattle dogs. Her hobbies include photography, reading, gardening, sewing, spending time with grandchildren, and making dessert.

Bell Choir Director

Diantha Dorman

Diantha Dorman has directed two handbell choirs in playing our five octaves of bells and another five octaves of chimes for 17 years at The United Church of Christ in Keene. Leading the choirs at several handbell festivals, she served as New England Area 1 Handbell Chairperson for 3 years. Formerly choir director/organist at Rockville Methodist Church in Connecticut, she is interim organist and choir director here as the need arises, along with being a guest organist at several area churches. Diantha earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education at Fredonia State University of New York. In addition to leading twice weekly bell choir rehearsals and monthly performances in our sanctuary, Diantha co-chairs the annual Women’s Fellowship Christmas Fair and manages the flower committee. She lives in Keene with her canine companion, Mandy.

Youth Director

Marty Hennum

Born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) to American UCC Medical Missionary parents, Marty’s early years in Africa profoundly shaped her interest in the performing arts, as well as global culture and service. She grew up in The Second Church in Newton, MA, UCC, where she was very active in the youth group. After graduating from Denison University with degrees in theater and psychology, she moved to Boston where she served as performing arts chair and a theater teacher at the Brimmer and May School. While in Boston, she also earned a master’s degree in intercultural relations with a focus on multicultural arts education.

Upon moving to Keene, Marty identified the need for more community arts programming for children in all economic circumstances. For the next 20 years, she served as artistic director of theater at the Keene arts education nonprofit, MoCo Arts. It is here she also launched and directed its C.A.K.E. Summer Camp program (held in the Church), teaching children aged 8 to 18 the art of acting and theatrical performance.

As a longtime member of The United Church of Christ, Marty is thrilled to bring her global spirit, multicultural values, and passion for community service to her new role as UCC’s Youth Program Director. When Marty is not working with youth and enjoying the exploits of her college-age children, she enjoys traveling with her husband Vaughan, doing yoga, reading, being outdoors in nature, playing games, watching movies, eating yummy food and laughing as much as possible!

Bookkeeper

Wendy Douglass

Wendy is the newest addition to our team. She is a bookkeeper whose clients include 2 lawyers, 2 rental property owners, a website design company, a condo association, and the Dublin Community Church. She was born in Vermont and moved to California with her husband a few years after she graduated from college. They had 2 daughters, Heather and Erin, while living in California and decided to move to Peterborough shortly after Erin was born to be closer to family. She still resides in Peterborough, and is very happy to be part of the Keene UCC.
