On Sunday, December 11, worship at the United Church of Christ in Keene will feature Gaudete Rejoice by Anders Ohrwall. The choir, directed by Beverly Caldon, will present it as a Sermon-in-Music, accompanied by Julie Armstrong, flute; Sussan Henkel, oboe; and Joy Flemming, bassoon. The service begins at 10 am. All are welcome.
Gaudete Rejoice was originally created for the Youth Choir of the Swedissh Radio in 1962 for the purpose of introducing Swedish Christmas music for mixed choir and instruments. Ohrwall chose songs related to certain biblical readings, and combined them in a Christmas story, including English Christmas carols, French noels, etc.
