Clean-up crews are putting final touches to spring in the Elsie Priest Park, a fenced-in play space located on the corner of Court and Vernon Streets in Keene, on property owned by the United Church of Christ in Keene. The park is open to the public daily.
Volunteers have raked and weeded and edged and spread bark mulch to make park safe and attractive to children and parents. There are climbing bars, slides, and swings in two areas, one for toddlers and one for older kids, with benches and shade trees for everyone.
The park is named for Elsie Priest, a long-time staff member of the UCC-Keene Church, who spent many years in China in the 1950s as treasurer and educator of Nanking and Ginling Universities.
