Children of War Art Exhibit by Carina Roestorf

“Children of War,” a solo exhibit by sculptor Carina Roestorf, is on display in the East Room Gallery at the United Church of Christ from September 23 to October 31.

- Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Fridays 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
- The artist will be in the gallery 1:00 – 5:00 on Fridays.

This exhibition includes her latest body of work. “This opportunity to showcase my collection of “CHILDREN OF WAR” is very exciting and meaningful to me. I want the children to speak for themselves. I want to make my audience aware that we all need to slow down and take a moment to reflect on what is really happening today. I want them to see how war inhumanely impacts innocent children in this present time. Why are we just the bystanders here?” asks Carina. “I work with stoneware and love the sculpting process. My other works on display reflect clearly my emotions around the issues of life, social and/or political issues. My art is my voice.”
Born South African, Carina now lives in a New Hampshire lakefront studio where she feels most inspired. “When I started working with clay, I was not sure where it all was leading. But clay has its own way. The more we worked side by side, the more we formed a strong bond in our appreciation for form and beauty. Together we developed a mutual respect for the creative process of sculpting. This is when, and only then, I am able to stand back with a sigh of joy and pray…”
