June 15 is Youth Sunday at UCCKeene

All are invited to hear members of the UCC Keene Youth Group talk about their April mission trip to Puerto Rico and their year overall at the 10 am worship service on June 15 at the United Church of Christ in Keene, 23 Central Square, Keene.

Fifteen members of the Youth Group, students from all over the Monadnock Region, spent a week in April in Aguada, Puerto Rico, working with a group called Global Volunteers.

Our youth were matched with local area non-profits that help communities in need, working in community kitchens, food pantries, and senior citizens centers, and adding manual labor, cleaning, and restoring facilities used by these groups.

Prior to the trip, the UCC Keene youth collected goods from the congregation and delivered eight suitcases of donations to groups they worked with in Aguada.

The Keene youth earned funds for their trip by sponsoring several coffee houses at the church, running A Haunted Alley during the Pumpkin Festival, wrapping Christmas presents and hosting a Santa’s Workshop, opening a Winter Wonderland Activity Room with hot cocoa during Keene’s Ice and Snow Festival in February, and serving their popular and delicious Pasta Dinner in March. The group is coordinated at UCC Keene by Marty Hennum and Dianne Patnode.

They will take part in the worship service on Father’s Day, June 15, to share their experiences with the congregation and all are welcome. Enter through the front door on Central Square and use the stairs, or through the accessible entrance at the rear of the building off Vernon Street, and use an elevator to reach the sanctuary on the second floor.
