The Youth Group of the United Church of Christ in Keene held a Pasta Dinner on March 10 as a fund raiser for the group’s mission trip and retreat to Providence, RI, in June. The students prepared an elegant, restaurant-like atmosphere and confidently served their many guests. They raised $6,700 at this event.
This is their third and biggest fundraiser for the trip. Last fall, they sponsored a “Haunted Alley” during Keene’s Pumpkin Festival, and, in February, they created a Winter Wonderland room of crafts and games and s’mores-making during the Keene Snow and Ice Festival.
In Providence, the group will spend time volunteering at breakfast and lunch programs, gardening, watering and weeding, preparing hygiene and snack kits, and learning at every site about the needs of the community they are serving.
